Clinical Mental Health Counselor
Katie Cawley is a pre-licensed clinical mental health counselor who received her master's degree from Southern New Hampshire University and her bachelor's degree in theater from Wagner College in 2013. Katie’s ever-evolving approach to counseling rests on the concept that growth occurs in connection and that experiences of disconnection that we have had throughout our lives lead to the problems, issues, or false narratives we struggle with in the “here and now.” Addressing and reframing these experiences of disconnection and the issues that have developed as a result helps us to enhance our ability to relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us and helps us and to reach new levels of self-awareness and growth. This approach is heavily influenced by relational cultural and person-centered theories of counseling and Katie believes firmly in the strength of each individual client relationship and the importance of meeting clients where they are at, considering the context of their beliefs, values, and lived experiences, and tailoring treatment accordingly. Katie welcomes clients of all backgrounds into her counseling office and has a particular interest in working with young adults working through life transitions, those experiencing family or relationship issues, individuals that struggle with anxiety, and survivors of intimate partner violence. Katie has also practiced as a certified yoga teacher since 2016. She received her 200hr teacher training from Rishikesh Yog Peeth in India and her 300hr teacher training from Angie Follensbee Hall at Jai Studios in Brownsville, Vermont. She also has extensive training in anatomy, physiology, various yoga styles and lineages, as well as Trauma-Informed Yoga
